In case you haven't noticed, this summer represents the 50th anniversary of Jamaican independence.
It's a time to take stock of the immense influence the nation has enjoyed, the way its musical culture has spread across the globe. In short, it's time to party… London venue The Book Club have reason to party as well. Set to turn three years old this month, the club / bar space is set to host a special party featuring The Trojan Soundsystem at the controls.
Spinning the best in hip hop, soul and (especially) reggae the crew will have Earl Gateshead & Daddy Ads on the decks, with plenty of close friends and comrades also helping with the selection. Featuring the very best in cutting edge Jamaican music, the Trojan Soundsystem will bring along special sound effects, klaxons and of course that all important echo chamber…
In the opposite corner you can find The Disco Shed Soundsystem, represented by Count Skylarkin, Peepshow Paddy and DJ BarryDar. Book Club regulars, the soundsystem are battle hardened after a summer spent rocking festivals at home and abroad.
To celebrate, Clash have been handed a special prize. One lucky winner (and nine friends) will gain free tickets, with the Book Club stumping up a £100 bar tab.
