Continuing our mini series of Mexican cinema in partnership with El Jimador, we will be showing the classic El Mariachi on 1st November and have a bunch of tickets to give away.
As far as full length debuts go, El Mariachi was a full on success and launched a young Robert Rodriguez into the big time. Originally intended only for the Mexican home entertainment market, the film was bought by Columbia Pictures and began what we now call the Mexico Trilogy – consisting of El Mariachi (1992), Desperado (1995) and Once Upon a time in Mexico (2003).
The film is so highly revered it was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2011 and largely credited with launching the independent film boom of the 1990’s.
To enhance the Mexican ambience, we’ll be serving el Jimador Palomas – a slow sippin drink made from tequila, lime and soda – in the lead up to the film.
We’re giving away 10 pairs of tickets so you actually stand a pretty good chance of winning!
To enter the competition to win a pair of tickets – for you and a friend, just answer the following question:
Name another film directed by Robert Rodriguez?
