Clash is able to team up with renowned audio brand and official Mercury Prize partner Bowers & Wilkins for a very special competition.
The Mercury Prize is upon us once more, the annual celebration of the best British (and Irish) LPs to have been released in the past 12 months. As ever, it’s a packed field, with 12 artists aiming to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner Arlo Parks.
The final shortlist is packed with talent, ranging from folk-tinged jazz composition through to Cornish synth pop, via an unusual collaboration from a Britpop godfather, righteous punk rock, surrealistic word play, and neo-soul.
So, who will emerge triumphant? The winner will be revealed at London’s Eventim Apollo on Thursday 8th September, with the 2022 Mercury Prize with FREE NOW ‘Album of the Year’ Awards Show set to be broadcast live on BBC Four from 9pm.
Performances on the night will include a host of shortlisted artists, including Fergus McCreadie, Gwenno, Jessie Buckley & Bernard Butler, Joy Crookes, Kojey Radical, Little Simz, Nova Twins, Sam Fender, Self Esteem, Wet Leg and Yard Act. Harry Styles will be represented by a filmed live performance. The programme will culminate in the announcement of the overall winner of the 2022 Mercury Prize with FREE Now for ‘Album of the Year’.
You can be there with Clash, thanks to Bowers & Wilkins who are providing three pairs of tickets to the event. Alongside this, the audio brand have supplied us with three pairs of Px7 S2’s, their superb, high-end, multi award-winning headphones used by the Mercury Prize judges for listening to over 200+ albums to select the 12-album shortlist and eventual winner.
As part of its long-term commitment to championing UK recorded music, Bowers & Wilkins continues its support as the official audio partner of the Mercury Prize. At the forefront of music creation for over 40 years, it is uniquely placed to help the Mercury Prize celebrate the album format and the shortlisted artists’ creative achievements.
