Ahead of their appearance at Contact...

A global sound, dubstep began as a very localised community.

Spread across a handful of nights in London, the style was spread by a handful of producers, DJs and MCs.

Now, though, it's a vast, globalised phenomenon. Contact aims to bring together some of the finest young producers, linking them up with the pioneers who took sub-low sounds at 140 to new levels.

The next night takes place at the Village Underground in Shoreditch on October 5th. It's a bill littered with heavyweights: Youngsta and Loefah will get behind the decks, while fans can also expect appearances from young guns such as Icicle, J:Kenzo and more.

Ahead of this, Rinse gathered three of dubstep's founding fathers for an informal get together. Loefah, Youngsta and Sgt. Pokes relax in the Village Underground, reminiscing about their own careers, the future of bass and the upcoming Contact event.

It's a rare chance to watch the trio interact, revealing some fascinating insights into the birth of one of the most pivotal forces in 21st century music.

Watch it now.
