The Weeknd

Well Abel was never really going to disappoint, was he?

The Weeknd has remained in the shadows for too long, but the past few days have witnessed the producer arriving on British shores. Playing a secret show in London on Sunday night, the project unveiled a live show which had a rare emotional impact.

Clash reviewer Hayley Brown went along, and came away suitably teary eyed. "Abel’s voice is incredible. High-pitched noises I had assumed to be the result of a vocoder - or at least manipulated in the studio - rang out pure and true straight from his mouth. Whilst singing he was an intriguing and interesting front man, working the audience and the stage easily – and at one point inducing near-hysteria by searching for and singling out a female member of the crowd who’d been screaming for him."

Dropping past Later... With Jools Holland last night, The Weeknd decided it was time to take his music national. Performing 'Wicked Games' the project delivered a fragile, tender, show-stopping version - all sparsity, silence and poise, it demonstrated everything fans love about Abel Tesfaye in one beautiful moment.

Watch it now.
