An Easter Bunny rampage...
'Out Of The Black'

Royal Blood's music is loud, brash... cartoon-ish.

So their new video makes perfect sense. Essentially revolving around a crime spree delivered by an Easter Bunny, it was shot by Christy Karacas and features work from illustrator turned director David Wilson.

At times almost hilariously violent, the clip fuses Royal Blood's visceral rock to a lengthy, intricate and gruesome fight sequence.

“The staging of the action was really important to me as I wanted to create a dynamic space filled with fast paced kinetic energy and movement that matched that of the song,” says Karacas. “I animated much of the action 'straight ahead' and let the music dictate the movements and ideas in a stream of conscious way as opposed to pre-planning everything from the start. The unrelenting rhythm of the bass and drums of this song had everything to do with the animation that seemed to just flow out of my fingertips.”

“Once I’d written the construct of the narrative, I started creating the live action storyboard, leaving gaps for Christy to fill,” adds Wilson. “I wanted to give Christy as much creative freedom as possible whilst making sure the animation and the live action would still sync together. I would give Christy the starting point of which characters were fighting, where their geographical placing was on the set, and which characters would die. It was then up to Christy to create the fight sequence. It was an extremely special project, working with an extremely special band.”
