Good things come to those who wait, or so they say.
That eagerly awaited birthday present; a visit from family; or a new single from James.
Except 'Coming Home (Pt. 2)' isn't any old single, it's actually the sequel to one of the band's best-loved hits, providing the flipside to 1989's 'Come Home'.
“I wrote ‘Come Home’ feeling shit about leaving my older kid and splitting up with his mum,” explains Booth. “This is a part two, a sequel to that. My family is together but I’m away travelling a lot. Doing what I love. Personally, I wanted to commission an animation to this song but had my arm twisted to be in front of camera for the first time in 20 years for James."
Tim Booth steers the video, picking up on those beautiful lyrics: “I missed your 7th birthday. Last kiss 5000 miles away, FaceTime on Fathers’ day, Father’s day 5000 miles away...”
Leif Tilden directs the clip, a renowned film maker who has worked with the likes of Stanislav Grotoski, Philip Glass and Jim Henson - who cast him as Donatello in the the Mutant Ninja Turtles movies.
An engrossing, intimate experience, it's a beautiful vision of love that boundaries of space simply cannot break. Watch it below.
James will release new album 'Living In Extraordinary Times' on August 3rd.
