French newcomers impress out the blocks…
Divine Paiste

French indie-dance foursome Divine Paiste have properly piqued our attentions with this video, for their track ‘Dust In The Wild’. We’re getting Lord Of The Flies vibes for sure – and it turns out this is just a single piece of a much larger puzzle.

‘Dust In The Wild’ is taken from the Tours-formed quartet’s debut album, a 12-track set titled ‘Crystal Waves On A Frozen Lake’, which we’re promised has a “mystical side”. “The lyrics orbit a scenario,” says singer Pierre-Yves B, and 11 of the album’s songs will have videos to accompany them, illustrating this wider vision in clearer terms.

Of ‘Dust In The Wild’ specifically, our man B remarks: “It’s about the fact that we’re relatively nothing when compared to the universe, nothing more than dust in the wild, comets in the sky. We are all going to end as dust on the ground, so let’s go down laughing. It’s a search of happiness, a hope in the chaos.”

On the video, a statement from the band simply reads: “Four characters initially try to escape the linear thinking imposed by an oppressive regime. Eventually they flee to form a Lord Of The Flies-esque isolated tribe.”

Recorded in the French countryside, ‘Crystal Waves…’ will follow in 2015, with ‘Dust In The Wild’ issued as a single on December 15th. Watch the video below and find the band online here
