America is continually evolving, continually in a state of flux.
Yet certain landmarks, certain traits still personify the United States. Hailing from Baltimore, Future Islands have seen both sides of American life: the myth, and the often brutal reality.
New track 'Seasons (Waiting On You)' is a drifting, lo-fi piece of synth pop. Labelled 'post-wave' in the press release Clash has been sent, and you can sort of see why such a moniker would settle upon their collective brow.
The video, though, finds Future Islands playing with these definitions of America. Film maker Jay Buim steps in to work with the band, while the clip itself focussed on Mid-West towns, rodeos and other cultural emblems.
Future Islands' Samuel T. Herring introduces the video thus: "For us, sometimes, it's quite spellbinding how Jay can translate our sound into an image. 'Seasons (Waiting On You)' is a song about love, letting go, learning from your mistakes and always feeling that pull - yearning for a certain love, as time goes by and seasons change. It is simply a song about the human experience."
