"The apple don't fall far from the tree..."
Ed Harcourt

It's a family affair.

Ed Harcourt might remain fresh of face, but the English songwriter's life has changed completely since the breakthrough success of 'Here Be Monsters'. Now a husband and father, these new responsibilities have altered his priorities, shifted the way he perceives the world.

It's something which impinges on new album 'Back Into The Woods'. Recorded in Abbey Road studios across one, solitary six hour session, it's a remarkably cohesive songwriting display from an artist who continually pushes himself into new areas.

New single 'Hey Little Bruiser' is a case in point. Out now through CCCLX, the recording found the artist's wife Gita Harcourt adding some sumptuous violin.

The song itself deals with the strain of fatherhood, and finds Ed Harcourt dealing with some heavy introspection. Aimed at his six year old son, it features the knockout line: "you got the good bits from your mother and the bad parts from me".

Intimately shot, the video for 'Hey Little Bruiser' features Ed Harcourt at the piano, staring straight into the camera as he delivers those heart-on-sleeve lyrics.

Watch it now.
