Shot using a Spectrum ZX...
Candy Says

Ah, consoles of yesteryear...

Nary a day goes by in the Clash office without the team breaking to drink tea, dunk biscuits and discuss sadly dis-used hardware. From the Sega Genesis to the Commodore 64, our eyes turn a nostalgic shape of square as we reminisce about our younger years spent retro (well it wasn't then) gaming.

So news that Candy Says have shot their new video using a Spectrum ZX got us all excited. The Oxford band were signed to a major in a previous incarnation, but after being burned by this process decided to change their name and their direction.

New single 'Kiss Kill' is out now, kept to a limited edition of 100 cassettes. Lauren Laverne and Steve Lamacq both got behind the track on 6Music, while Amazing Radio went as far to award Candy Says with 'Track Of The Day'.

Dark, feral guitar thrills with a direct, pop edge, it comes equipped with a fantastic new video. According to the blurb we've been given "the entire video was coded on an actual Spectrum (with the "live" footage streaming through the Speccy from an SD card). The final video was recorded from a Spectrum emulator for maximum quality."

Watch it now.
