Maribou State

Soul ain't never going to go out of style.

Its meaning continually revised, the product, the indefinable essence of soul will always shine through.

Incoming duo Maribou State seem to recognise this, and pepper their fractured, forward thinking take on house with plenty of soulful vocals. Frequent collaborators, the pair are currently working on their debut full length.

Before then, though, Maribou State are set to unveil their new 'Truths' EP. Containing four tracks, the EP is a fantastic distillation of where the duo's focus lies.

The title cut was a Trans-Atlantic effort, involving the exchange of files and viewpoints with vocalist Jimi Nxir. The crunchy beats are matched to luminous, 80s style synth lines, while Nxir's vocals are pure velvet.

Glamorous, seductive and fringed with pain, it's a performance of sheer drama, poise and - above all - soul.

Clash is able to share 'Truths' before anyone else - listen to it below.

'Truths' is set to be released via Southern Fried on October 28th.
