Each member, each musician behind Hejira has a different story.
But that's why they're so distinct. Between them, the four members of Hejira boast credits working with Nitin Sawhney, Eric Lau, Amy Winehouse and Connan Mockasin, with countless more besides.
Together, though, these influences, these credits fall away. Woozy, jazz-tinged pop with a longing for left field electronics, the group take a broad view (to put it lightly) on pop culture.
It's all to their benefit. New album 'Prayer Before Birth' is out now, with new single 'Echoes' b/w 'Dancing Around Control' due to arrive on April 28th (pre-order link).
Both imposing introductions in their own right, Crewdson has stepped in to re-work 'Echoes'. Focussing on Hejria's rhythmic flow, the very human clicks and stutters which sit alongside their supple groove, it's a deft, analytical remix with plenty of soothing textures to draw you in.
