You might not have realised it, but LA transplant urika’s bedroom have worked with some of your favourite musicians. As a multi-instrumentalist, he’s played alongside the likes of 2070, St. Panther and Youth Lagoon, while he’s also a noted producer.
Continually upping the ante, urika’s bedroom is now pushing to the forefront, accepting the limelight that is so deservedly his. New single ‘Junkie’ leads the way – reminiscent of the barbed, dark, off kilter productions of Ecco2k or the surrealist cosmos of Alex G, it’s brimming with outlaw originality.
The crunching beat recalls Massive Attack at their ‘Mezzanine’ best, before giving way to a smoothed out guitar line that feels like detuned country radio. Neo-industrial tones blessed with radiant light, ‘Junkie’ is a stripped back piece of work, produced by the LA sonic guru himself.
Mixed by Sonny DiPerri, the new single comes equipped with some daring, ultra-raw visuals – a sign of his staunch individuality, and an indiction of what’s yet to come.
Tune in now.
