Track Of The Day 6/3 – Candy Says

Not Kings

Oxford has always had a curiously idiosyncratic music scene.

Close enough to London to soak up that metropolitan buzz, the city remains far enough away from the capital to stamp out its own identity.

Candy Says have already released two cassettes on Cool For Cats, establishing themselves as supremely stylish purveyors of bittersweet indie pop.

Expert pop melodies with a home made slant, the band fuse cute guitar lines with endearingly ramshackle electronics.

New single 'Not Kings' drops on April 7th, and it's a real gem. Driven by some furious acoustic guitar chords, there's an oppressive feel to the production which belies that charming vocal.

Check it out now.

Candy Says have confirmed a number of shows in support of Chrysta Bell:

April
7 Glasgow Oran Mor
8 Salford Sacred Trinity Church
10 Oxford Holywell Music Room
11 London Oslo
