SPIDER is a law unto herself. Raised in a strict Nigerian-Catholic household on the fringes of Dublin, she was restricted from attending real-life shows. Finding community online, she disappeared into herself, discovering different facets of her creative personality in the process.
Very much an artist working in her own lane, each new release from SPIDER seems to connect on an intimate level with fans. Perhaps they share her sense of alienation, or perhaps they’re simply attracted to the dynamism of the music – either way, SPIDER is making her mark.
New EP ‘Hell Or High Water’ is incoming, and it’s led by fresh blaster ‘Growing Into It’. Pop viewed from an alt edge, it’s the sound of someone claiming their own independence.
Visceral and raw, ‘Growing Into It’ keeps the needle stuck in the red, with SPIDER’s always on-point lyricism tackling everyday misogyny, pushing back against the micro-aggressions engrained in our patriarchal society.
Leading the way with that passionate vocal, SPIDER explains that her new single is “loosely around the concept of men using women as social capital to make themselves look cooler, smarter, better than they actually are.”
Tune in now.
