Fossil Collective have always been concerned with the song as an entity in itself – the actual sound came second.
Often pegged as an alt folk group – debut album 'Tell Where I Lie' certainly owed a debt in this regard – the band recently steered themselves toward somewhat darker shores.
New EP 'Flux' arrives on January 15th, with the band explaining:
"After the success of our debut album 'Tell Where I Lie', we went into a two year hiatus where we travelled, spent time with our loved ones and for some moved to live by the sea. Bored of the alt folk tab, we decided to regroup with a darker, more submersive sound and a new line up. Hopefully our existing fan-base will like the progression that we have aimed for but for us we have to keep moving forward. We are constantly writing at the moment and will have our second out before the end of 2016 and a tour to boot."
Clash is able to tease the EP with new track 'Disarm'. A subtle, beguiling gem, the sighing harmonies are perfectly balanced against a chiming, percussive framework that ripples along in a perfectly natural fashion.
"The more we know, the less we understand…"
'Flux' will be released on January 15th.
