Fly Away (Live)

Pop music used to be a Trans-Atlantic obsession.

The United States and the UK would slog it out, swapping roles at pole position. Yet over the past decade this dual partnership has dissolved, with non-English speaking countries able to produce their own superstars. Scandinavia has led the way.

The area has produced more than its fair share of talent, helping to break down the perception that to be famous you have to operate within the twin poles of London and New York.

Take Bernhoft. Hailing from Oslo, the singer’s YouTube channel has notched up just under 3 million views, while studio album ‘Solidarity Breaks’ has become a success across Europe. Now it’s the turn of British audiences to fall for the singer.

A truly solo performer – often using loops to build up dense, complex arrangements – the Norwegian artist dropped by the Great Escape earlier this year. Later playing a completely sold out show at Cargo, it was another - equally sold out - headline appearance at the Union Chapel earlier this month which really made his name.

Taking to the stage at the historic venue, Bernhoft strolled his way through one of those shows which are best filed under ‘You Had To Be There’.

As a treat for those who missed out (and for those who want to re-live that show) here's a live rendition of 'Fly Away'.
