Track Of The Day 3/8 – STRABE

'Honey'

Believe it or not, summer hasn’t quite disappeared yet. Sure, the UK may be sodden, the deluge running from John o’ Groats to Land’s End, but it’s only August – there’s still fun to be had.

With sun peering out between the clouds, rising duo STRABE have swept in with immaculate timing to unleash their latest banger. The duo – Angelica and Emmet – met in the smoking area at an Irish festival, a fateful Cork encounter that altered the paths of their lives.

Together, they make blissfully restrained pop music – chic, infectious, and playfully inventive, it’s reminiscent of Robyn in places, or even a bit of French gurus Phoenix.

Debut album ‘How Our Love Grows’ is out in October, and new single ‘Honey’ is a top tier bop. Packed with summer energy, you can hear wistful shades of 90s production in there – think the Cranberries and you’d be close – alongside the kind of emotive dancefloor fare Romy has long since made her own.

It’s a slinky disco mover, in other words, and we’re pleasantly hooked. A full video for ‘Honey’ is also online, and you can check it out below.
