Perhaps the name may be unfamiliar, but his work certainly isn't.
STAL – Pierre-Marie Maulini – was brought up in the south of France, quickly earning a reputation as an accomplished producer.
Collaborating with the likes of VV Brown, the French artist spent two years on the road with M83 following the hugely successful 'Saturdays = Youth' album.
Now working on solo material, the strength of STAL's EP would see the producer snapped up by Arista. Allowed to remix any other act on the label's roster as he saw fit, the producer picked rising synth pop trio Years & Years.
'Take Shelter' is initially a dramatic piece of electro pop, with impeccable production masking a swirling, sweeping vocal which reeks of emotion. Ripping the track apart, STAL turns 'Take Shelter' into something much darker.
