These things taken time.
We Were Promised Jetpacks have spent three years working on their new album, three years which have seen the Edinburgh band re-group, re-think and re-compose.
Recruiting a new member – multi-instrumentalist Stuart McGachan – the band began laying down new material earlier this year.
Utilising Glasgow's Chem19 facility, We Were Promised Jetpacks recruited Paul Savage to oversee the sessions.
The results include some of their most confident, most probing, most ambitious material to date. New album 'Unravelling' will be released later this year, but ahead of this Clash is able to unveil something special.
New single 'I Keep It Composed' is due to be released on September 22nd, a song which packages together the band's most dark, abrasive moments and their unifying, epic side.
Opening with a fuzzed up, industrial sounding bass line, 'I Keep It Composed' is at times almost subsumed in darkness before stabbing moments of light erupt out of the gloom.
It's an impressive return – tune in now.
