Like Cat's Eyes
Hear's Track Of The Day for 25/9 - Silverclub 'Like Cats' Eyes'

“It’s got Beck. It’s got Talking Heads. It’s got Bowie, and Human League, and I have a new rival!” That’s what I Am Kloot’s John Bramwell said about today’s band. We’re equally impressed with Manchester-based live- electro group Silverclub, so much so that they’re playing our first Issue Launch Party in the city at the Deaf Institute on 6th October in support of Jim Noir. Tickets are only £6 and those down early can pick up a free copy of the magazine too. Grab a ticket here…

‘Like Cats’ Eyes’ is the full-force opener to Silverclub’s self-titled debut album. Indicative of what’s to come, it’s a pulsating track commanding people to the dance-floor. The catalyst here is Duncan Edward Jones, an electronic producer in his own right; this outfit sees some of his more accessible creations brought to life by a full band. Just watch the session below, a drummer seemingly with more arms than an octopus keeps the rhythm together, G-Kut provides textured scratching from the decks, Henrietta Smith-Rolla brings in a powerful synth, and the frontman coolly nods to the beat while providing lyrics shrouded in cynicism.

The band provided one of the highlights at Manchester International Festival last year and wowed crowds at Liverpool’s Sound City this year too. Their full-length was released only a few months ago on Hidden Pony and is easily one of the best albums to come from the city in 2012. You can get your hands on a free download EP featuring tracks from the album here. So join us for a night of carousing, as these electro-pop tunes undergo a metamorphosis. Expect huge beats to be bouncing off the walls!
