Track Of The Day 25/8 – Pawws

'Slow Love' Gunther Beatz Remix

Pawws may not be a familiar name, but Lucy Taylor's music has already been heard across the globe.

A classically trained musician who cut against her upbringing, the North London based artist recently worked with Bloc Party's Kele Okereke and MGMT. Quietly opening her own SoundCloud at the beginning of the year, Lucy Taylor has gradually begun to pull herself out of their illustrious shadow.

Effortless 80s styled pop with a neat 21st century twist, Pawws' debut single 'Time To Say Goodbye / Slow Love' arrived via ASL Records last month. Two immaculately produced slices of shimmering, fluorescent electronics, Taylor's unabashed pop touch and obvious ambition marked her out from the off.

Out now digitally and on seven inch vinyl (pre-order link) Clash are able to offer up something special. Rising producer Gunther Beatz has stepped in on remix duties, turning 'Slow Love' into a glorious piece of sunshine pop music.

Those 80s drum fills, the snare cracks and glistening synths, all recall the blistering summers of Acid House and the sounds which would become known as Balearic. Bleached white by blissful debauchery, this is the perfect antidote to the fading of the summer sun.

Listen to it now.
