Track Of The Day 24/3 – Tora-i

'Palace'

For a while there, Tora-i was caught up in a whirlwind. Relentless touring saw her living the dream – supporting Snoh Aalegra at O2 Academy Brixton, she then flew out to North America for 30 nights alongside Omar Apollo.

In need of a break, she took time for herself, enjoying personal restoration and the recuperative powers of solitude. Hitting Los Angeles, Tora-i linked with her producer Josh Grant, and knew instinctively where music was about to take her.

‘Palace’ is a song of returning, a song about touching base with yourself. The sound of someone who has been pushed about as far as she can go, ‘Palace’ offers some respite against harsh reality. Dreamy R&B that thrives on melody, Tora-i has a gift for world-building, and a penchant for staunch originality.

Out now, it’s a potent next step. She calls it: “A feel good song about returning to self, building yourself up brick by brick.”

Tune in now.
