'You And I'
Malcolm Middleton

Where the hell did Malcolm Middleton go?

The songwriter was one half of Arab Strap, a Scottish artist with an intense, poetic touch that, at times, bordered on folk.

After the release of 2009's 'Waxing Gibbous' album, though, he seemed to fade into the background. Moving to a haunted clocktower in Fife, Malcolm Middleton worked on 2012's Human Don't Be Angry project before sparring with David Shrigley on the 'Music And Words' album back in 2014.

Now, though, he's ready to step firmly back into the limelight. New album 'Summer Of '13' arrives via the freshly re-launched Nude Records imprint, and it's a bright, buoyant electronic return from the songwriter.

Glasgow-based dance producer Miaoux Miaoux assists throughout, while guests include The Lone Pigeon, De Rosa's Martin John Henry and First Aid Kit’s Scott Simpson.

Clash is able to premiere new cut 'You And I' and it's a glorious return from a singular talent. Sure, traces of Scottish miserablism remain but it seems that Malcolm Middleton has learned to do a quick 2-step in the rain.

A crisp, pop-heavy return, you can check out 'You And I' below.
