Social media can sometimes be, well, not very sociable.
It's a place to be alone, information and opinion atomised. Rising Dublin trio Sleep Thieves, though, managed to find one another via Twitter – an achievement in itself.
Swapping track recommendations and vintage synth tips, the three piece – Sorcha Brennan (vocals, synths), Wayne Fahy (Vocals, synths, bass, programming), and Keith Byrne (synths, guitar, bass, programming) – eventually coalesced.
Self-released EP 'Islands' followed in 2012, but since then Sleep Thieves have rather hidden themselves in the shadows. Perfecting an artful, evocative sound redolent of Kate Bush or even the avant-pop of Japan, the band unveiled debut album 'You Want The Night' last June.
Now Clash is able to unveil a video for the title track. Brooding vocals, distorted electronics and an off kilter pop touch combine to make something which is uniquely visual – a noir sense of synth pop.
