West London’s very own Bawo simply does not miss. The rapper’s slim but immaculate catalogue is rooted in individuality, with the rising artist developing a voice of his own.
His peers are taking note, too. Joining Knucks on his breakout UK tour earlier this year, Kojey Radical invited Bawo onstage at vital Brighton showcase event the Great Escape.
Bawo’s excellent ‘Live & Let Thrive’ EP staked his claim, with the West London rapper taking time to finesse his follow-up.
Out now, ‘Same Team’ is an excellent return, displaying his innate sense of control and that incisive word play. Continually switching up his flows, Bawo uses ‘Same Team’ to re-assert his pathway: “If I wanna progress, I gotta profess with every intent.”
Bawo explains: “The song is about having the strength to ask for help despite maybe not feeling okay; people close to me maybe thinking that I’m moving different but I’m still me and still here so yeah, shout me, ‘cos we can’t do life alone.”
Oscar #Worldpeace steps in on production, while ‘Same Team’ is bolstered by a feature from fellow riser Reek0, as Bawo seeks to use his blossoming platform to rise up other voices.
