Just Like Christmas
Dan Croll

The Devil doesn't always have the best songs and Christmas is a good time for Jesus to whip out his record collection.

Low are a case in point. Famously a group of Mormon worshippers, the slow-core legends only occasionally touch on their beliefs but when they do the results can be devastating. 'Just Like Christmas' is a case in point. Focussing more on the beauty, the warmth offered through the surroundings of family and loved ones it seems to radiate with a rare internal joy.

The aura of a true believer or simply someone having a good time? Well, it could be both. Liverpool songwriter Dan Croll recently had us digging out those early Low albums. Rapidly becoming known in his own right, recent single 'From Nowhere' found the artist wrapping layers of folk and electronics around his compulsively frail, quivering vocals.

Already mightily impressive, this cover of 'Just Like Christmas' really ups the ante. Twisting and turning the song in new directions, you can listen to it below.
