Track Of The Day 20/11 – Skinny Lister

'Trouble On Oxford Street'

Folk meets punk, London meets the world: that's Skinny Lister.

A riotous live act from the off, the band speak clearly, distinctly about the world around them. There's no frills, no fancy bits, no extraneous parts – just good, honest songwriting.

Taking time off to record their new album, the London based outfit are almost ready to unveil the results. 'Down On Deptford Broadway' will be released on April 20th, with frontman Max commenting:

"We're trying to push forward the sound we had on the first album ('Forge & Flagon'). We don't want to be a static band, we want to move with whatever influences are going on around us all the time."

Ahead of this, Clash is able to unveil new single 'Trouble On Oxford Street'. Available in January, the track is a pulse-quickening return, all bellowed vocals and brusk instrumentation.

The accompanying video is shot on Oxford Street itself, with Skinny Lister becoming one of the few forces capable of stopping the area's rampant commercialism.
