Track Of The Day 20/10 – SOMOH

'Anything'

SOMOH has something special. Real name Sophia Mohan, there’s an impeccable innocence to her work that is just overwhelming, retooling 90s alt-rock tropes from a Gen Z angle.

Sharing her gorgeous song ‘I’ve Been Saying This’ earlier this year, the purity of her approach caught the ear of Far Caspian. The two interlocked immediately, and she collaborated on his recent jewel ‘Warning Sign’.

Far Caspian will produce her debut EP, which is slated to land early next year. For now, we’re able to listen to – and adore – her new single ‘Anything’, a softly beguiling slice of autobiographical songwriting.

Reminiscent of beabadoobee or even Stateside talents like Soccer Mommy, there’s a raw simplicity to the song that gets under your skin. “You know that I’d do anything,” she sings, before adding: “I wanna fall into your arms…”

A song about connection and longing, the slight bittersweet quality emphasises the sheer risk in fully putting yourself out there, and leaving your feelings exposed.
