'Cruel Ways'

The Trans-Atlantic conversation is something that creeps up throughout pop history, that unique back-and-forth between the UK and the United States.

Drowners, though, seem to epitomise this. Led by a Welsh singer, based in New York, and with their eyes set on the world, the band have a breezy, instantly contagious brand of indie pop.

Second album 'On Desire' arrives on June 24th via Frenchkiss Records (pre-order LINK), matching deadpan wit to some earworm melodies that won't let go of your sub-conscious.

New cut 'Cruel Ways' is a case in point. Outwardly breezy, the buoyant vocal line reflects the beaming spring sunshine making its way across London.

Lyrically, though, Drowners cut that little bit deeper.
