Japanese shoegaze outfit Taffy are practically an institution round these parts, with their Great Escape performance at the weekend prompting some rapturous reviews.
Little wonder. The group may enshrine certain influences – Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine, for example – but they do so with consummate, immeasurable class and style.
New EP 'Darkle' is out now via Club AC30, with Taffy shooting a video for 'Dr. K'. Swirling shoegaze with a psychedelic twist, the band supply some hefty, muscular rock flavouring.
The accompanying visuals are a real trip, indebted to 90s influences but gleefully taking things in a fresh direction.
