Booka Shade have many guises.
There are the studio boffins, the engineers who spend hour upon hour researching and perfecting sounds. There is the bone crushing live show, igniting electronic music with a rare intensity.
Then there are the club kids. Booka Shade draw their inspiration from Germany's rich house and techno scenes, and alongside their carefully considered studio productions the duo like to put out a club mix every now and again.
Sure, that cerebral edge is still there, but the pair can tailor their sound towards club use, emphasising its physical impact, it's ability to draw you in and pull you apart.
'Crossing Borders' is a highlight of recent album 'Eve', and will be given a release in its own right. Crunching percussion matched to Fritz Kalkbrenner's soulful touch, it's a supreme piece of house bedlam with some metallic tech-driven overtones.
Expanded alongside a number of remixes, Booka Shade have stepped in to re-work their own track.
'Crossing Borders (Club Mix)' is a heady, intoxicating, peak-time sound with the German pairing gleefully ransacking their own production.
