Track Of The Day 16/10 – Colony House

'Silhouettes'

Nashville has always been known as Music City.

But the past few years have witnessed a transformation within the Southern metropolis. A host of young musicians have flocked to the area, resulting in one of America's most bustling, most vibrant, most creative areas.

Colony House came of age in this atmosphere. The group are southern without being Southern, recalling New Order's more overtly pop moments or even those early Killers cuts.

Buoyant and anthemic, the music – outward, at times electronic – sits in contradiction to the organic, emotive songwriting which frequently seems to come from a dark place.

Caleb Chapman explains: "The songs I write have always come from deep places, whether they're deep places of joy or deep places of hurt, and it can be hard inviting people into those places with you."

New cut 'Silhouettes' is out now (purchase link), a potent example of the band's songwriting. Clash is able to premiere the accompanying visuals, a stylishly shot clip which captures the energy of a group on the rise.
