Track Of The Day 12/12 – Withered Hand

'King Of Hollywood'

Currently on hiatus, Fence Records is more than just a label – it's a community.

The artists involved think nothing of sharing a bill with artists outside their roster, viewing them less as competitors but more as collaborators in waiting.

Withered Hand was certainly engaged in the Fence orbit. Now signed to Fortuna POP! the songwriter released sprightly, insightful new album ‘New Gods’ earlier this year.

A wonderful return, it boasted the sumptuous cut ‘King Of Hollywood’. A hymn to Fence founder King Creosote, it’s a reminder of the bonds that can exist between artists.

The video for ‘King Of Hollywood’ was not shot in the United States at all, instead focussing on the mean streets of Glasgow. Check it out first on Clash.

Withered Hand has confirmed the following shows:

January
1 Edinburgh Heartlands @ Roxy Art House, Edinburgh
6 London Winter Sprinter, The Lexington
21 Glasgow Celtic Connections Festival, ABC O2

February
7 St Andrews Uisgebhanter – Lower College Hall (A creative writing event with AL Kennedy, James Yorkston, Charity event for local Trussel Trust Foodbanks)
15 Glasgow PopSouth Festival, Glad Cafe
