Track Of The Day 11/11 – kwn

'nobody'

East London artist kwn is something special.

A real all-rounder, she blends a deep awareness of her heritage with a neat pop touch. A flurry of singles have fused UK rap, dancehall and a soulful edge, resulting in a hard-hitting but easy-on-the-ear blend that sits in her own lane.

New single ‘nobody’ is the perfect summation of her talents. A punchy return, the bubbling production looks to a dancehall influence, but the resulting construction is defiantly UK in its structure.

The sound of a potent young artist letting their talents stretch, ‘nobody’ speaks from the heart, with kwn – pronounced kay-wuhn – letting you into her world. Co-written alongside Tendai and mixed by Josh Faulkner, it’s a huge step forwards.

The visualiser echoes this, placing kwn in her Walthamstow environment. Following the UK riser to her home turf, the council estates are given a dream-like quality, fusing gritty reality with an aspect of her creative imagination.

She comments…

“This visualiser just puts into perspective what story nobody is telling. There’s people pushing me out the way as if I’m invisible, the whole walk is kinda like I’m on a mission to find my place. But it’s also just a cool thing for you guys to look at. Shout out to Talia she really helped bring the vision to life!“

Tune in now.
