Simple, striking songwriting – that's Sean McGowan.
Doing things the old fashioned way, the hard way, the songwriter has travelled the length and breadth of the UK, selling two home recorded EPs on a 'pay what you like' basis.
It's an approach which has brought him no small amount of praise, and also allowed him to see the true side of modern Britain. A politically infused songwriter, Sean McGowan isn't dealing in petty party arguments – rather, he's simply reflecting what he sees around him, the injustices and struggles which mark everyday life.
Snapped up by Sunday Best, new single 'Come Unstuck' b/w 'Swings & Roundabouts' drops on June 30th. 'Come Unstuck' is a visceral, honest piece of songwriting, with McGowan's longtime hero Frank Turner even stopping past on backing vocals.
Utilising only an acoustic guitar and the most basic of percussion, 'Come Unstuck' emphasises that sometimes the oldest trick in the book is also the most effective.
Listen to it now.
'Come Unstuck' b/w 'Swings & Roundabouts' is due to be released on June 30th – iTunes / vinyl pre-order
