American composer Alex Somers was recently approached to work on a new film project.
Captain Fantastic is a curious new work, starring Viggo Mortensen as a father bringing his family in to civilisation from the wild.
Alex Somers' soundtrack is suitably cinematic, reflecting both the wide open expanse and the inner psychology of each character.
The full 'Captain Fantastic' soundtrack album will be released shortly on Invada, with Clash able to premiere the visuals for 'A New Beginning'.
It's a beautiful track, with the slow-moving transience seeming to reflect wider, immortal truths. There's a melodic flair, too, one that resonates long after the final notes die away.
Inga Birgisdottir – sister of Sigur Ros' singer Jonsi – has crafted some incredible animated visuals for the track, a neat counterpoint to both the music and the film itself.
