Monki Picks Out Nu Breed Production Talent

Seven beat makers who you need to keep an eye on...

Monki is one of the most important taste-makers in the UK, a DJ, broadcaster, and label owner who has made it her life's work to uncover tomorrow's sounds today.

Working tirelessly, Monki holds down a slot on Radio 1 while also travelling across the country and beyond, perpetually seeking out new sounds in the process.

Currently completing The Warning UK Tour, Monki brings her shows to a close this weekend – ahead of this, Clash invited her to name a few producers who could dominate the next 12 months in music.

Billy Turner – 'Alien'

Billy is a young producer from Sussex who just makes straight up banging techno. He's played a couple sets for me on my Monki & Friends tour and has been smashing it, great DJ. Got support from the likes of Skream and Scuba as well so it looks like a bright future ahead.

Eats Everything – 'Rita's E' (Elliot Adamson Remix)

Elliot is representing the North East; His productions are big, brash, bleepy house. He also smashes an edit as well, he came on my Radio 1 show recently and delivered us a brilliant mix. Plus he's as mad as a box of frogs which always makes for some good Twitter reading.

Illyus & Barrientos – 'Govanized'

These two lads from Glasgow have been making noise with a bunch of original and remixes flying around all over the beatport charts. They released on Yousef's Circus Recordings and have much more to offer. Look out for their release coming out my label Zoo Music.

Eli Brown – 'Acid Test'

Eli Brown is a producer from Bristol. He's recently released his first EP on Of Unsound Mind and it's a four tracker of solid, no messing about, club records packed with energy.

Hammer – 'At Once'

Hammer is popping up on everyone's radar as of late. He showed us what he could do on his 'At Once EP' at the back end of last year and is following it up with a new release on LOFT records. Support from Bicep and the legendary club/label Sub Club, he's one to watch.

ANOTR – 'Anotr x Armand Van Helden' – Funk Phenomena

I first heard of these two lads from there EP on DFTD a couple years ago. They featured on my Monki & Friends EP last year and played the R1 stage for me at Hideout and on every occasion they've blown it out the park.

Oli Furness – 'Middle Ground'

Oli Furness has been around for a minute, but for those of you that haven't heard of him, I think you should at least should check out his latest EP. He gave me 'Middle Ground' to play on the show and the reaction was great. It also comes with a remix from Mak & Pasteman.
