Jon Hopkins 12 Inch Unveiled

Featuring remixes from Four Tet and more

Renowned producer Jon Hopkins is set to release a new 12 inch containing exclusive remixes of his material.

Jon Hopkins is a contrary individual. The sonic perfectionist is best known for his work with Brian Eno, assisting the maverick producer when working with such globe trotting giants as Coldplay.

However the engineer also has another side, which is deeply indebted to IDM and club culture. Live, Jon Hopkins can follow up a dubstep track with some ear splintering electronica, pushing his equipment to the edge of its capabilities.

Signed to Domino, Jon Hopkins recently released his new album ‘Insides’. Mixing electronica, bass music, folk and more it was a bewildering experience which proved there is still plenty of ground left to break.

Follow up EP ‘Seven Gulps Of Air’ contained a raft of remixes, including such disparate talents as Tunng and Tom Middleton.

Now though Jon Hopkins has arranged a special 12 inch containing some remarkable reworkings of his material. Due to be released via Double Six on August 9th, the 12 inch will contain a remix from Four Tet.

Jon Hopkins recently remixed Four Tet’s ‘Angel Echoes’ so Kieran Hebden returns the favour with a garage tinged version of ‘Vessel’. A hard, up tempo offering it proves that Hopkins’ music can work in clubs.

On the flipside, Border Community producer Nathan Fake offers a stamping freeform techno reworking of ‘Wire’. Best known for his recent ‘Hard Islands’ smash, Fake takes the Hopkins track into new dimensions.

With Jon Hopkins recently teaming up with Brian Eno for an improvised performance in Brighton, the producer is gearing up for a busy festival season. Keeping appearances to a minimum, he will nonetheless be jetting across the globe with a headline slot at New York’s Electric Zoo festival already confirmed.

Jon Hopkins – Remixes is available from August 9th.
