An evolution... with surprises
Yeasayer - Fragrant World

The rise and rise of Yeasayer continues. The Brooklyn-based band sound increasingly confident on this, their third album. Right from the off it’s more accessible than 2010’s good, but tricksy, ‘Odd Blood’. That’s not to say it’s a step-backwards - instead, it's a further evolution of the band’s interests in Eighties electro and contemporary R&B. Plus a few surprises… ‘Henrietta’ starts off as a brash electro number, before taking a mid-song swerve into ambient territory, while ‘Devil And The Deed’ is a polished slab of synth pop.
