Inés Efron and Martín Piroyansky star in the moving story of Alex, a girl whose indeterminate gender has lead her parents to move her to a small island community away from judgement. Having left Alex to decide whether she is to be a man or a woman, at the age of fifteen her mother invites some old friends to stay – one of whom is a surgeon. They bring with them their teenage son Álvaro who develops feelings towards Alex.
Opening the door for further narratives on the subject, Puenzo’s script deals with one of the last “taboos” of the 21st century with sensitivity and from a refreshing perspective, viewing the issue not from a clinical perspective but rather from the human need to feel desired. Efron (Alex) delivers a beautiful performance as a girl tormented by the judgement of others who just wants to be herself.
