Wagon Christ – Toomorrow

Sonic sabotage!

Luke Vibert’s original alter ego drops more woozy cuts and loopy samples, seemingly spun from the turntables of a drunken b-boy. As with his previous work under the moniker, he sets his wonky basslines to the best slices of mayhem from the acid house and breakbeat era.

Attempting to connect these disparate sources are cut glass beat programming and messed up vocals, themselves appropriated from the classic cuts of hip-hop’s golden age. This latest borrows its tone from cinema: ‘Oh, I’m Tired’ making like the theme from an imagined western, while the horn lines of ‘Respectrum’ conjure a cop show from the speakers. Sonic sabotage from the musical master.
