‘Hobbyism’ is an amalgamation of independent label Full Time Hobby’s artists. From the soft spoken-word of Malcolm Middleton on ‘Carry Me’ to the folk-driven despair of Micah P Hinson’s ‘2s And 3s’, the compilation demonstrates an almost guiltily voyeuristic insight into the label’s artist’s emotions.
Similarly, the purity of Tunng’s ‘It Breaks’ is demonstrative of the level of talent that the label represents. Whilst Erland And The Carnival’s ‘My Name Is Carni’ leaves less of an impression, the compilation remains a selection of promising artists that subvert the mass-produced music littering the music charts. Long live independent music.
