Twin Sister – In Heaven

A perfect balance between 'dream' and 'pop'

Why are Twin Sister that much easier to love than most acts slapped with the chillwave tag? First, they’ve got Andrea Estella and her delicious malted milkshake of a voice. Second, the Long Island five-piece show a greater willingness to vary their musical palette than many of their contemporaries, embellishing the ten songs on this debut LP with everything from spaghetti western guitar to rinky-dink piano to what we’re reading as a Donna Summer reference: ‘beep beep’ indeed! Finally, there’s the near-perfect balance they strike between the ‘dream’ and the ‘pop’; this lot write proper songs with melodies that are frequently very lovely indeed.
