You’d be forgiven for expecting a selection of nocturnal dance bangers from Anders Trentemøller. But Denmark’s Hamlet of house takes us off the beaten path for his contribution to the LateNightTales series, revealing that his influences come as much from the darker side of rock ‘n’ roll as they do electronica. Dark it is indeed, but nevertheless eclectic with choices ranging from Mazzy Star and This Mortal Coil to French yé-yé singer Jacqueline Taïeb and M.Ward. Like an alternative soundtrack to From Dusk Til Dawn, the whole thing is draped in a gothsploitation tapestry – haunting, cryptic and splattered with motorcycle grease.
