Perfectly mixes noise and melody...
TOY - Join The Dots

With (three, of five) members of this London band failing to properly release a first album with their previous outfit, Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong, it’s astounding to think that TOY are already on their second given their relative youth. The quintet’s eponymous first set only emerged 15 months ago.

‘You Won’t Be The Same’ is a sultry and hypnotic track, appearing early on this second LP – and it’s representative, exactly, of what this band does best.

Starting with a funky bassline that goes into a black hole of swirling, chaotic feedback, title-track ‘Join The Dots’ is clearly its makers’ new epic signature song, leaving their debut single ‘Left Myself Behind’, erm, behind.

TOY get the balance exactly right here, perfectly mixing noise and melody. It’s clear that Joe Lean was the problem, then…
