Thomas Tantrum – Swan Lake

...sweet The Sunday’s style guitar pop

Not since William Orbit made some of the finest classical compositions ever written sound like dreary, post-club night hangover rubbish, has a pop music taken on classical music with such obvious intent.

But it’s best not to be distracted by the Southampton band’s Tchaikovsky-referencing title or the bizarre middle-eight electro reinterpretation of the Russian composer’s famous ballet piece, complete with drunken Aled Jones at the Songs of Praise Christmas party style vocals. Far better to enjoy the sweet The Sunday’s style guitar pop, rolling drums and bouncing “ah ah ah” hook delivered by in the child-like voice of singer Megan Thomas.
