The Watson Twins – Fire Songs

Gorgeous country folk musings

The Watson Twins are real life identical twins Chandra and Leigh Watson who first came to my attention at least through the 2006 ‘Rabbit Fur Coat’ album by Rilo Kiley’s Jenny Lewis. Such was their contribution on that record that it was actually credited to Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins.

Their own debut comes from a similar place, laidback country and folk sounds delivered by those soothing, intertwined voices, which only identical twins can blend as intuitively as the girls do. The overall sound is reminiscent of a less ‘big city’ Cat Power, unhurried songs unravel beneath those harmonies as guitars twang and muted organs coo.

But don’t take our word for it, we have the opening track ‘How Am I To Be’ for you to listen to HERE

‘Fire Songs’ is out now on Vanguard Records.
