A transcontinental collaboration years in the making is a marriage of sparkling guitar pop and ethereal synth pop, and aided by the distinct vocals of Saya.
Many of the tracks initially seem to be dominated by one band or the other, so a decent stereo (or at least a decent set of headphones) is recommended to hear the full contribution of each. The Pastels hand is felt whenever guitars aren’t buried; Tenniscoats dominate by washing songs in their otherworldly sounds. Indeed, many of the oh-so delicate tones that make Two Sunsets so pretty are sometimes detrimental to it, the delicate arrangements drifting into somnolence.
But when that perfect balance is struck, the overwhelming beauty of the harmony defies any notion of what a pop record should sound like.
